Abstract
The Co atom of the title compound, [Co(C8H10F3O2)2(CH3OH)2], which is located on a crystallographic inversion center, exhibits a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The bidentate acetyl-acetonate-like ligands are in a trans arrangement. The plane through the acetyl-acetonate unit is tilted with respect to the CoO4 plane by 17.41 (7)°, which is in the same range as observed for similar Co(acac)2OR 2 derivatives. Via the methanol hydr-oxy groups, each mol-ecule participates in two pairs of inter-molecular hydrogen bonds that create a network of hydrogen-bonded chains along the direction of the a axis.
