    Abstract

Fuel cell temperature has an important role on performance of PEM fuel cells. In this paper, current density contribution measurement gasket [1] was used to measure local current in PEM fuel cell and transient response of fuel cell temperature on average current density and local current is studied. Experimental results show that different local current along the channel reveals different transient characteristics when fuel cell temperature increases. When fuel cell temperature is lower than or equal to humidification temperature, local current decreases along the channel. But local current increases when fuel cell temperature is higher 20K than humidification temperature. The results are very helpful for the optimization of fuel cell temperature.
