Abstract

This study deals with the effects of a weak forced flow field upon the convective transport in a channel that has discrete uniform flux sources along its walls. This simulates electronic packages that are predominantly cooled by natural convection, but have a weak forced convection flow field imposed upon them, due to miscellaneous sources. Both the transient and steady state regimes are investigated. A two-dimensional numerical model is used. The model is first verified by comparing its predictions to known mixed convection results, and to previous transient and steady state measurements near a uniform flux surface.
