Abstract
The results of a two dimensional numerical analysis of the buoyancy induced flow adjacent to a uniform flux surface with finite heat capacity are presented. The surface is located within a rectangular adiabatic enclosure filled with water. The transient transport process is initiated by suddenly generating a uniform and constant heat flux in the surface. The results are compared to short time closed form solutions and to experimental measurements and found to be in excellent agreement.
