Abstract

The domain structure and underlying crystallography of the BiScO3 - PbTiO3 system was studied. It was found that domain structures in the rhombohedral and tetragonal phases resembled those in the piezoelectric ceramics. Superlattice reflections were observed in the <110> zone axis diffraction patterns from the grains of the rhombohedral phase. The results were compared and contrasted with domain structures and diffraction data from related perovskite solid solutions.
