Abstract
Radiative transfer in absorbing, emitting, isotropically scattering, two-dimensional cylindrical media bounded by diffusely emitting and diffusely reflecting walls is analyzed. The analysis is performed utilizing the integral form of the equation of transfer. The solution to this problem is constructed using power series expansions and a collocation method. Application of the method shows that highly accurate results are obtainable for the considered cases at a modest computational effort. Comparison of the results with those obtained from the Pt approximation reveals a significant discrepancy between the two solution techniques, whereas the results are in excellent agreement with the Monte Carlo method.
