Abstract

This technique is sensitive to tungsten level as low as 0. 05 parts per million small variations in pure aluminum welds caused changes in electrical resistivity of the welds. Welding current type had the greatest effect on contamination. Low current levels caused less contamination. Shielding gas type and arc length also had a measurable effect.
