Abstract
This paper presents a new approach technique to upfold the ambiguous velocity encountered in the velocity measurement of Doppler weather radar. The two dimensional dealiasing algorithm described here is based on the computer vision and least square method. The idea behind this technique is to adjust simultaneously all gates in a two - dimensional area to minimize the sum of the squares of the discontinuous region due to aliasing. Because of the edge searching and reconstruction, the solution is global and optimized in the least square sense. Moreover, the new technique is conceptually simple, i.e., it is not necessary to solve a large scale equations and easy to implement without the assumption of smoothness, and most importantly, the dealiasing errors do not propagate.
