N2 - Mapping the ultrafast dynamics of single charges in an atomic-scale quantum system has been a challenge in nanoscale electronics. Lightwave-driven scanning tunnelling microscopy (LW-STM) has emerged as a powerful technique to track ultrafast dynamics of surfaces with picometer spatial resolution. While previous LW-STM studies have successfully resolved molecular motion, lattice vibrations, and quasiparticle dynamics, the detection the ultrafast charge dynamics at the atomic scale has remained an open challenge.
