Abstract
Ultrasonic sensors are implemented for on-line monitoring of powder injection molded (PIM) parts. Ultrasonic guided wave mode control using different angles, frequencies, and sensor positions, are used to achieve special wave structures and sensitivities to part quality changes in real time. Several guided wave modes are considered to develop a robust control strategy. Theoretical wave mechanics and advanced signal processing techniques are considered in addressing the sensing needs of the PIM industry.
