Abstract
The piezoelectric and dielectric coefficients d33 and K33 obtained in the electric DC biased state of electrostrictive 0.9PMN-0.1PT electroceramics show a pronounced dependence on the value of the uniaxial stress T1 applied perpendicular to the electric field. This effect was attributed to the influence of T1 on the response of micro-polar regions and on the field induced transformation between the micro-polar and macro-polar state of 0.9PMN-0.1PT. The application of mechanical prestress T1 makes it possible to elevate the upper temperature limit for the use of the electroceramic in technical applications.
