Abstract

Based on favorable results with the use of the Pierce-Donachy paracorporeal pneumatic ventricular assist device (VAD) for postcardiotomy cardiogenic shock, the authors have initiated a program using the VAD to support patients as a bridge to cardiac transplantation. This report details results using the Pierce-Donachy VAD as a bridge to cardiac transplantation.
