Abstract

The dural venous sinuses develop from a widespread venous network, which allows for multiple variations. Insufficient knowledge on these variations can lead to misdiagnosis and can complicate interventional neurosurgical procedures. It is therefore important to understand not just the anatomy of the most consistent presentation of the dural sinuses but also the variant anatomy. This chapter reviews the major variants encountered for the intramural venous sinuses.
