Abstract
Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery which has been accepted as a very important development for thoracic surgery is also used for volume reduction surgery such as resection of bullae and represents a challenge for anesthesiologists. Anesthesia plan during this surgery must meet both the requirements of surgery and patients'physiological needs. Intubation with double lumenendotracheal tube providing one-lung ventilation is required during video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. Combination of close monitorization and appropriate ventilation parameters is a must especially in patients with emphysema. In this case report, we aimed to review features of the anesthetic management of a patient with giant bullae via video-assisted thoracoscopic resection.
