Abstract
The Stand Visualization System (SVS) can reinforce understanding of forest management concepts when coupled with a "traditional" cooperative extension educational program to private forest landowners (PFLs). SVS, linked to the Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS), creates a time-compressed series of images that convey the effects of growth, treatments, and disturbances on stand structure. Participants in 12 workshops were evaluated to understand shifts in attitudes and knowledge on a number of management concepts after exposure to presentations. SVS software can aid in communicating and reinforcing PFLs' understanding of forest management concepts.
