Abstract

The propagation of Voight waves was studied. The relationship between the orientations of the singular axes and the distinguised axes of the component phases was also investigated using the Maxwell Garnett and the Bruggeman homogenization formalisms. The results indicate that Voigt waves propagate in biaxial composite materials whose component phases do not support the propagation of Voigt waves.
