Abstract
The vortex-induced quasi-particle 'checkerboard' in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ was studied. Scanning tunneling microscopy was used to image the additional quasi-particle states generated by quantized vortices in the high-Tc superconductor Bi2Sr2Cau2O8+δ. It was found that they exhibit a Cu-O bond oriented 'checkerboard' pattern, with (4.2 ± 0.4)a0 periodicity and ∼30 ̊ decay length.
