Abstract

Rising to the bait of in-house editor Andrew Miller's invitation, and being a developmental biologist and Webmaster for the Society of Developmental Biology - where I keep the server hardware and software humming, write and post content on our website (with any spare time being dedicated to fulfilling my faculty responsibilities) - I agreed to compile a regular Web alert feature for Current Opinion in Genetics and Development. Armed with the table of contents for this section on oncogenes and cell proliferation, I gathered what I think are useful Web offerings. With all the current media hype, it might seem that the World Wide Web has all the information we might want, and that search engines on the Internet can find all the information we need. Unfortunately, the Web does not deliver consistently accurate, carefully organized information. We still have to rely on published review articles, like those that appear, on paper in this issue.
