Abstract
Graduate school is about to begin this fall, and to help students prepare for this transition, graduate students were surveyed asking them what they wished they knew before they were beginning graduate school. The results of the survey are presented. The results suggest that in order to enjoy graduate school, the students must be motivated by the idea of learning new things, and he must be willing to put the financial rewards of working aside for a few years. It he thinks this is a case for him, then he will probably be willing to put up with some of the frustrations that are associated with graduate school and academia in general.
