Abstract
Beamforming is not valid for nearfield sensor array processing or for wideband signal processing. Instead, a wideband spatial processor is required. This paper describes a new, wideband spatial processor for an array of spatially separated sensors used to image an environment containing spatially distributed sources. The processor is formulated with wavelet transforms and is shown to be effective in processing wideband signals. Significant improvements in resolution and gain result as sensors are added to the array.
