Abstract

This analysis of 30 years of sports reporting in The New York Times finds 86.7 percent of all articles focus on men’s sports and male athletes, while just 5.2 percent focus on women’s sports and female athletes. Additionally, the articles about women are more likely to be shorter and have a smaller word count than articles about men.
