Abstract
Extruded YBa2Cu3O6+x wires containing 0 to 15 vol% silver have been textured by a zone melting process. It is observed that the magnetization critical current density in textured samples decreases with silver additions, unlike what is usually observed in sintered samples. In transport measurements, a Jc of 5500 A/cm2 in an applied field of 8000 Oe was observed in a sample containing 15 vol% silver.
